Jaideep Ahlawat says makers have created ‘new world’ for Paatal Lok 2, didn’t want to simply ‘cash in’ on love for season one

The series was created by Sudip Sharma, with filmmakers Avinash Arun and Prosit Roy co-directing the series. In April last year, the show was green lit for its second season, which is now in the post-production stage.

In an interview with Indianexpress.com, Jaideep Ahlawat opened up about Paatal Lok 2 and said, “I have full faith in the team of the show, from Avinash, Sudip to everyone. Main in logo ke bharose kaam karta hu. I get a good team, I do good work. If I don’t, then may be the work isn’t that good. But I know that the story that Sudip has written is just beautiful.”

“It is so good that you would be left wondering how long will it take to write something like this, how much a writer can push oneself. I hope the story reaches the audience and they like it,” he added.

The actor was speaking at The Himalayan Film Festival, where two of his films–Kareena Kapoor starrer Jaane Jaan and Avinash Arun’s Three of Us–were screened.

Jaideep said Pataal Lok creator Sudip Sharma let go of all the temptations to cash in on the hit elements of season one and has gone ahead to mount a new, equally thrilling world.

“In a series format, when your previous season is a hit, sometimes people try to cash in on all the elements that worked. But Sudip has left all that behind and created a new world. I just hope people get that. It is a new way of telling the story. I am confident people will have a lot of fun watching it.”

The actor is currently elated with the response to his Netflix thriller Jaane Jaan, which is directed by Sujoy Ghosh. The film was screened at the second edition of the film festival on its opening day and Jaideep said he was “thrilled” with the reception. “When your work reaches a wide audience, it makes you feel very special. It validates your work. The response to Jaane Jaan is very overwhelming for me,” he added.
