Mother’s Day 2025: ‘She juggles motherhood with a demanding career,’ this is a quote that we often hear while talking about moms around the world. In the recent past, we have heard our celebrity moms sharing how they have been performing their roles as moms in real life. While 31-year-old actor Alia Bhatt once admitted that being a mother to daughter Raha Kapoor has filled her with as much worry as joy, new mom Deepika Padukone, who welcomed daughter Dua Singh Padukone in September 2024, recently shared how she has to tell herself at times that life doesn’t end the minute you have a child and how she is still finding her new self.

While it was earlier believed that heroines in Indian cinema have a shelf life and as they get married and have kids their career comes to an end. But our new-age moms, who also happens to be some of the most talented actors, have certainly changed these antiquated norms.

Today’s Bollywood moms like Alia, Deepika, Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma, have been well managing a successful career along with taking good care of their kids. Let’s see what a few celebrity moms shared about their journey.

Alia Bhatt on bringing up daughter Raha

Talking about her challenges of managing the two exacting fields of being an actor and a mother, Alia Bhatt shared once in an interview with Allure, “How do I ping-pong between the two and do them well, but also find a way to carve out time for myself, which I’m not able to do. I’ll be very candid right now—there’s no such thing as me time. I’ve not even been able to get a therapy session for the last two months,” revealed Alia.

Admitting that becoming a mother to daughter Raha has changed her, Alia added, “Your soul is sort of fulfilled, but you are also always full of fear and nerves because of just wanting to do it right and wanting to do it well.”

Deepika Padukone on welcoming daughter Dua

Ranveer Singh shared how wife Deepika’s transformation as a mother left him in awe.

Deepika Padukone, in her conversation with Marie Claire, acknowledged that while many women face immense societal pressure about having children, her status as a prominent public figure shielded her from much of that scrutiny but she didn’t take that privilege for granted.

Deepika shared that she’s still finding her new self and added, “I do have to tell myself that your life doesn’t end the minute you have a child. You need to get back to your life, or at least a part of it. But every moment where I’m not able to be with her, there is guilt.”

Deepika’s actor husband Ranveer Singh also shared how Deepika is ‘absolutely immersed’ in taking care of her daughter Dua. Deepika, who is on maternity leave now, also spoke about how she’s trying to balance her life as a working woman and a mother. She also shared how a director reacted after she couldn’t meet him because she needed to be with her daughter. “He turned around and said, ‘Oh, looks like she’s taking motherhood very seriously’. I don’t know if that was a compliment or a jab. What does that mean, taking motherhood seriously? Yeah, of course, I am!” shared Deepika in her interview.

Deepika also expressed her feelings as a new mom and shared, “You’ve always wanted something. And there it is in your hands. Every couple of days she’ll be sleeping and Ranveer and I will look at her and then just look at each other and be like, we can’t believe this has happened to us.”

Priyanka Chopra says she’ll take out someone for daughter Malti

Priyanka Chopra and her singer-husband Nick Jonas Malti Marie Chopra Jonas via surrogacy in January 2022. On several occasions, the actor has opened up about the complications during her daughter’s early birth and her experience raising her. In an interview with Elle USA, Priyanka revealed what surprised her about being a mother.

“Just how much you can love something and how viciously you’ll protect it. I’ve seen my mom rip people when I’ve been hurt and I just never understood it. I was like, ‘Mom, chill out. What are you doing?’ Now I get it. I would take someone out,” shared Priyanka.

Priyanka Chopra describes her experience as a mother as a journey filled with unexpected joy and challenges, highlighting both the overwhelming love for her daughter, Malti Marie, and the constant adjustments she and her husband, Nick Jonas, make to balance work and family life. She emphasizes the importance of support from family and friends and acknowledges the need for self-care amidst the demands of motherhood.

Anushka Sharma says more confident after welcoming Vamika, Akaay

Anushka Sharma’s life has changed a lot after becoming a parent. One of the most popular couples in India, Anushka and Virat Kohli have two kids, daughter Vamika and son Akaay.

In a 2023 interview with Grazia magazine, Anushka shared her feeling of being a mom. “It has internally made me a far more self-assured individual – I feel I’m way more confident as a person. It’s a very real thing, caring for another human – and putting the child first in everything. I want to mention this – that it’s so important to have this connect with your child. I’m so hands on and I do everything for her, and I enjoy doing it, so the bond is very special. I feel that she’s turning into a secure individual, and I’m happy about that,” shared the actor.

Anushka Sharma has made many sacrifices after being a mother and has certaily chosen to be away from the limelight to give her best to her kids. Talking about her films, Anushka shared in her interview, “I’m okay to do more movies but only if it’s worth taking my time out and if it makes sense. I don’t want to do movies just to stay in the game.”
