Fame is a double-edged sword — it brings the adoration of millions but also the constant risk of having a public image as fragile as glass. A little nudge and it can shatter. Many in the film industry have been victims of blackmail attempts, made to preserve their pristine image. In a recent interaction, private detective Tanya Puri revealed one such case involving a popular actor.
Speaking to Siddharth Kannan, Tanya shared how a closeted actor was blackmailed by a woman who threatened to expose his sexual identity publicly. She said, “A lot of blackmailing cases happen in the entertainment industry. One of the cases that we had was that the guy was gay and he has not come out. He is a young actor, and him being gay is not an openly known thing.”
Talking about what transpired between the actor and the woman, she shared, “So the actor got involved in a one night stand with a girl at a club and the girl took evidence from that one night stand and started blackmailing him because she figured that he is gay and not interested in her. So she blackmailed him for money and told him that ‘if you don’t give me so and so amount, I will bring this reality out in front of the world.’”
However, Tanya added that the matter was eventually resolved after her team discovered evidence about the woman’s controversial past. “Eventually, the guy got trapped and his team contacted us. They wanted to find out more information about the girl and why did she do it? Such cases take months to solve. Eventually, they came to a place of discussion and the evidence eventually didn’t come out. There was a settlement done. No money was paid to the girl because there were certain evidences against the girl also, and that helped that actor.”
