It was a tradition for the Kapoors to come together for Ganesh Chaturthi and visarjan every year at the RK Studios. Grand celebrations were done amid the sounds of dhol and majiras. Since a very young age, the Kapoor kids too were often seen participating in the festival with full zeal.

Recently, Sara Ali Khan, Saif Ali Khan’s daughter from his first wife and actor Amrita Singh, also shared how grateful she is for the opportunity to experience different cultures and celebrations. Sara has always embraced both the religions followed by her parents.

Sara shared in a statement recently, “Honestly, for me, people have asked way too many times about being multicultural. But I simply believe I’m an Indian. Whatever my spiritual beliefs may be, at the core of it there’s a very strong pulse of just being Indian. And to me, being Indian means celebrating all kinds of festivals. We celebrate Eid, we celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi, we celebrate Christmas, and I feel that empathy isn’t as prevalent as it should be, but festivals allow for it.”

She also added, “You celebrate Eid with a Muslim friend as fully and wholeheartedly as you would celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi with someone who has a Ganpati idol at home and has invited you to seek blessings and share in their joy. That invitation, that gratitude, that sense of belonging… it all matters deeply.”

Talking about her ‘favourite thing about all these festivals’, Sara shared, “They foster empathy. They allow us to celebrate for everyone, not just ourselves. And in today’s world, I think that’s more important than ever,” shared Sara on the gratefulness of celebrating these festivals.”
