After making news across 2024 with his world tour Dil-Luminati and the much-discussed appearance on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, Diljit Dosanjh achieved another milestone this year by marking a smashing debut at the MET Gala 2025. The singer didn’t just mark his debut but also emerged as the best dressed celeb at the iconic fashion event in a Vogue poll, beating superstar Shah Rukh Khan who too marked his debut and a regular Priyanka Chopra, who has been attending the event for many years.

According to Vogue, Diljit Dosanjh stole the Number 1 position beating 306 contestants. Vogue as part of its Best Dressed list, asked its readers to choose their favourite looks of the evening. The readers had 307 different outfits to choose from and the top choice of the readers was Punajbi actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh who represented his Punjabi heritage in a Prabal Gurung sherwani.

Diljit was followed by S Coups in Boss, Zendaya in Louis Vuitton, Treyana Taylor in Ruth E. Carter, Rihanna in Marc Jacobs, Nicki Minaj in Thom Browne, Shakira in Prabal Gurang, Lewis Hamilton in Grace Wales Bonner, Lisa in Louis Vuitton, and Sabrina Carpenter in Louis Vuitton.

The year also marked the debut of mom-to-be Kiara Advani at Met Gala, but the actress too didn’t make it to the list.

What did Diljit Dosanjh wear to the Met Gala?

Diljit Dosanjh wore Atelier Prabal Gurung cream matelassé tailored jacket with hand embroidered rose gold floral crystal embroidery with leopard print silk shirt and black leather pants on the Met Gala red carpet with his signature style glasses.

He complimented his look with a multi-layered jewel-studded necklace with a emerald centrepiece. The look was inspired by Maharaja Bhupinder Singh, the rule of the princely state of Patiala. He also wore a jewel-studded turban with a feather, and a lion-headed kirpan in hand. His neckpiece was inspired by the iconic Patiala Necklace, created by France-based jewellery house Cartier nearly a century ago. He also wore a Cartier watch to complete the look.

Diljit Dosanjh’s outfit was a work of 50 craftsmen who worked over four days to create the cape he wore at the event. His cape had the map of Punjab with Gurumukhi (script of Punjabi language) alphabets embroidered through it. The map and alphabets were hand-embroidered with gold threads.
