Despite big star casts and ambitious budgets, this year’s Eid releases are yet to create the sort of buzz audience associates with festival releases. Ali Abbar Zafar’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, which promises the audience action-packed entertainment with its Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff stepping into the roles of Indian Army officers, goes up against Ajay Devgn’s ambitious Maidaan. However, both started sluggish at the box office, with Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’s advance bookings seeing an uptick in the last 12 hours.

Bade Miyan Chote Miyan has sold around 1,86,575 tickets and has earned Rs 4.8 crore till now while Maidaan has earned Rs 1.1 crore domestically. It is anticipated that the Akshay-starrer will mint approximately Rs 20 crores on its opening day. The film is made at a reported budget of Rs 350 crore and comes front-loaded with top stars. While the film saw improvement in advance bookings in the past 12 hours after a sluggish start, it now banks on spot bookings — Eid holiday usually sees walk in crowd — to get a respectable opening. It is expected to be released on over 3500 screens across the country which is a wide-release despite clashing with Ajay Devgn-fronted Maidaan. Earlier, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan was delayed by a day so that it coincides with Eid-ul-Fitr celebration in India.

Akshay Kumar on Wednesday, took to X (formerly Twitter), to announce the opening of advance ticket sales. “Dubai, you were great. Thank you for a dhamakedaar night. Advance booking open now. Experience it in 3D and IMAX IN CINEMAS tomorrow! #BadeMiyanChoteMiyanOnApril11 #BadeMiyanChoteMiyanOnEid2024.”
