Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff-starrer Bade Miyan Chote Miyan has completed its first week in theatres. After a mediocre opening of Rs 15.65 crore, the film experienced a major drop, earning only Rs 7.60 crore on the second day. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, the film managed to earn Rs 8.50 crore and Rs 9.05 crore on the first Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

However, it failed the Monday test, earning only Rs 2.5 crore. BMCM couldn’t recover in the following days, with collections ranging between Rs 2.40 and Rs 2.50 crore on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. The film’s total collection in India now stands at Rs 48.20 crore.

Bade Miyan Chote Miyan had an overall 11.21 percent Hindi occupancy on Wednesday. Chennai recorded the highest occupancy with minimal shows, followed by cities like Jaipur and Mumbai. BMCM clashed with Ajay Devgn’s Maidaan at the box office. The sports drama is struggling as well, and has managed to mint Rs 27.10 crore so far in India.

BMCM might see a boost on Cinema Lovers Day this Friday (April 19) with tickets being sold for Rs 99 at multiplexes. However, it faces competition from new big releases: Dibakar Banerjee’s Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2 and the romcom Do Aur Do Pyaar, starring Vidya Balan, Pratik Gandhi, Ileana D’Cruz, and Sendhil Ramamurthy. Offers such as buy one get one free and discounted tickets at Rs 127 have not worked for Bade Miyan Chote Miyan so far.

Akshay’s recent films have struggled to perform well at the box office. Apart from the film OMG 2, his other projects such as Ram Setu, Samrat Prithviraj, Selfiee, and Raksha Bandhan have received a lukewarm response from audiences.

BMCM’s one-week earnings are less than Samrat Prithviraj’s Rs 55.05 crore during the same period. However, BMCM minted more than Raksha Bandhan, which raked in Rs 38 crore. Bade Miyan Chote Miyan also stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, Manushi Chhillar and Alaya F in pivotal roles.
