Top 10 richest Indians in India 2025: India’s billionaire landscape is a fascinating blend of youthful innovation and seasoned enterprise. From Kaivalya Vohra, the Gen Z co-founder of Zepto, to Mukesh Ambani, the stalwart of Reliance Industries, these individuals have not only built vast fortunes but also carved unique paths through education. This article explores the diverse educational backgrounds of India’s top billionaires—revealing how degrees have shaped the minds behind the money.
The data is based on the report from the 14th edition of the M3M Hurun India Rich List 2025, published by M3M India in collaboration with the Hurun Research Institute.
Mukesh Ambani and his family have regained the title of India’s richest, with a remarkable net worth of Rs 9.55 lakh crore. Ambani completed his schooling at Hill Grange High School, followed by graduation in Science in Engineering from the University of Mumbai. He also pursued an MBA from Stanford University, but later dropped out and joined his father’s hand in the business.
Adani attended Sheth Chimanlal Nagindas Vidyalaya school in Ahmedabad, but left school at the age of 16. While he showed an interest in business, he was not drawn to his father’s textile industry. He enrolled at Gujarat University to pursue a degree in commerce, he dropped out after the second year to pursue business opportunities.
Roshni earned her bachelor’s degree in Communications from Northwestern University and went on to complete an MBA at the Kellogg School of Management. During her time at Kellogg, she received the Dean’s Distinguished Service Award. In 2023, Kellogg honoured her with the Schaffner Award in recognition of her societal contributions.
Cyrus received his elementary education at Bishop’s School in Pune. He graduated from Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce (BMCC) in 1966. In 1988, he earned a PhD from Pune University with a thesis titled “Improved Technology in the Manufacture of Specific Anti-toxins and its Socio-Economic Impact on the Society.”
In recognition of his contributions to global immunisation and philanthropy, he received an honorary Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) from the University of Oxford in 2019, as well as an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from the University of Massachusetts in 2018.
He earned his bachelor’s degree from HR College of Commerce and Economics and went on to complete an MBA at the London Business School. A qualified Chartered Accountant, he assumed the role of Chairman of the Aditya Birla Group in 1995. Additionally, he holds the distinction of being an honorary fellow at the London Business School. Between 2016 and 2022.
Born on October 10, 1954, he attended the Cathedral and John Connon School. He completed his Bachelor of Commerce degree at Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics in Mumbai and went on to earn a Master’s in Business Administration from Harvard Business School in Boston, USA.
Shanghvi attended J. J. Ajmera High School before going on to earn a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calcutta. He is the Managing Director of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries.
Azim Premji, who graduated in electrical engineering from Stanford University, has led Wipro Limited since the late 1960s.

Nakrani pursued a Bachelor of Textile Technology at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT Delhi) from 2015 to 2019. While in his third year, at the age of nineteen, he co-founded BharatPe alongside Ashneer Grover.
Srinivas, born on June 7, 1994, in Chennai, pursued dual degrees in electrical engineering at IIT Madras before obtaining a PhD in Computer Science from UC Berkeley in 2021. Also known as the “Chennai Boy,” Srinivas was inspired by his mother’s unrealised dream of attending IIT Madras.
Kaivalya Vohra, born in 2001, began his education in computer engineering in Mumbai. He later enrolled at Stanford University in the US to study computer science, but chose to leave before completing the program to launch his own venture. At the age of 19, he co-founded Zepto alongside his friend Aadit Palicha.
Aadit Palicha, born in 2001 in Mumbai, attended Dhirubhai Ambani International School and briefly pursued Computer Science at Stanford University before deciding to leave.
