In the wake of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement cancelling Class XII exams, some states Tuesday said they would reconsider conducting their respective state Board exams. Others said they would take a final call soon. Meanwhile, Haryana and Gujarat announced the cancellation of class 12 state board exams. Decisions by other states on the matter is awaited.
Following the cancellation of the CBSE Board examination on Tuesday, the Council For The Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has scrapped its ISC examination for this year.
The CBSE has released an official notification stating that the postponed Class 12 exams now stands cancelled. “Any student who is not satisfied with the assessment has an option to appear in the exam as and when the situation becomes conducive”, reads the official statement by CBSE.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted a meeting with union ministers, cabinet secretary and other stakeholders to discuss the situation of Class 12 board exams and review all the possible options on the exam. Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar and Union Minister of Finance Nirmala Sitharaman are also part of the meeting among others.

The Prime Minister said that the decision on Class 12 CBSE exams has been taken in the interest of students. He stated that COVID-19 has affected the academic calendar and the issue of Board Exams has been causing immense anxiety among students, parents and teachers, which must be put to an end.

The Goa government will go through decisions taken by other states and also consult the Union Education Ministry before taking a call on Class 12 Goa board exams by Wednesday evening, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said.
Talking on the undergraduate admissions at JNU, VC M Jagadesh Kumar said, "We will conduct the entrance examination whenever it is safe for the students to write. If the entrance is delayed due to the pandemic situation and if the admission of the students happens at a later date than usual, we will surely adjust our academic calendar to take care of the lost time without compromising the academic rigour."

Following the cue of center, Haryana government has decided to cancel the Class 12 exams conducted by the state board. Whereas, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and other states are likely to take a decision on the matter soon.
Talking on scrapping of Class 12 board, Praveen Raju, Co-Chair, FICCI ARISE said, "There is no way we could have held exams without compromising the safety of children. While we welcome the decision, we hope the modalities would be worked out quickly in consultation with stakeholders." He further said that since 12th marks are important factor that affects students’ career, we expect CBSE to ensure students don’t get affected with the methodology of awarding marks.

Nobody is in a situation right now to answer how the situation will be in various cities and whether this exam can be held.
