THE SAMAJWADI Party (SP) Friday released the party’s “vision document”, titled “Mahaparivartan through social justice: a new vision, a new hope”.

Releasing the document at the party headquarters in Lucknow, party chief Akhilesh Yadav said it was “his party’s vision document” and not of the alliance. The SP has a tie-up with BSP and RLD.

The document, with photos of Akhilesh and patron Mulayam Singh Yadav has 11 titles, one on each page, ranging from social justice, education, employment, farm sector, national security and women empowerment.

On the national security front, the document slams the BJP and alleges that “an increasingly desperate BJP is using the Indian Armed Forces as an electoral tool”. In order to woo the Yadav community in the state, the party has proposed a Ahir (Yadav community) Armoured Regiment and a Gujarat Infantry Regiment.

On internal security, the document targets the Centre over “women’s security and lynchings over cows” and says these issues need to be addressed.

The vision document has slammed the Centre’s demonetisation move for impacting India’s poorest the most. It also claims that “India is perhaps the most unequal country in the world”.

On employment, it says that it will demand that “central reservations are updated to reflect actual caste distribution”.
