US President Donald Trump is expected to attend a gathering of top US generals and admirals at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia, on Tuesday, Reuters has reported.

The meeting, described as a rare assembly of the country’s military leadership in one place, was first detailed in a planning document seen by The Washington Post.

A White House spokesperson gave no immediate comment on Trump’s attendance, Reuters noted.

Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth is due to lead the session, which is expected to last about an hour. US officials told Reuters that Hegseth plans to speak about what he calls a “warrior ethos” and may raise other matters.

Hegseth, a former television host, has repeatedly said in public speeches that the US military must maintain a “warrior mentality.” Since taking office, he has also removed senior commanders as part of his effort to carry out the president’s national security agenda.
