US President Donald Trump reportedly wants the new stadium for the Washington Commanders in the nation’s capital to be named after him, Fox News reported, citing ESPN.

The report came a day after the White House confirmed that Trump will attend the Commanders’ game against the Detroit Lions on Sunday, where he is expected to honour military veterans during the halftime ceremony.

When asked about the naming report, the White House did not confirm it to Fox News Digital. However, press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement: “That would surely be a beautiful name, as it was President Trump who made the rebuilding of the new stadium possible.”

Trump’s visit will mark his first appearance at a Commanders game since taking office.
