Actor and blogger Aditi Khinchi shared a video on her Instagram showing a West Side store—a Tata enterprise—giving refuge to a stray dog during heavy rain in Mumbai, and praised Ratan Tata for his compassion towards dogs.
Sharing the video, she wrote, “Today I saw this doggo sitting peacefully at @westsidestores in my city while it was raining and I was surprised because it’s not very common here. No one allows dogs or cats to take shelter in their showrooms.”
Ratan Tata, renowned industrialist, is famous for his love for animals, particularly dogs. In May, a LinkedIn user shared how she learned that Tata had instructed Mumbai’s Taj Hotel staff to treat stray animals with care, if they wander into the premises. This instruction from Tata had made headlines then.
Possibly remembering that, Khinchi wrote, “Then I realised that it’s TATA Enterprises and who owns it 🤎 @ratantata sir thanks so much 🤎 thanks to the staff who was so kind to give shelter to this dog during heavy rain fall ✨Kindness still exists.”

The video also has the text, “This is why I love @ratantata,” and “Ek hi toh dil hai sir, kitni bar jitogey? (Sir, there’s only one heart, how many times will you win it?)
With over 74,000 likes, the video garnered many reactions from Instagram users. One of them wrote, “I hope many stores opens their hearts for strays in India.. this is a step towards kindness. I pray that our public becomes more open minded towards such things. A change for giving strays a peaceful shelter is much needed in India.”
A second user commented, “Ratan Tata the gem …good fellows foundation for elderly…foundation for animals n stray dogs ..army personal staying at concessional rates in taj ..hard to imagine India’s profess without him.”
Another user said, “It would be great if everyone was of the same mind like Ratan sir!.”
On July 1, Tata launched his cherished project––the Tata Trusts Small Animal Hospital––in Mumbai.
