Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal become the top talking point on social media after their smiling pictures go viral

Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia were detained by Delhi Police yesterday.

All day yesterday (November 3), Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal dominated news after the two, along with Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, were detained by the Delhi Police. The three politicians were not allowed to enter Ram Monahar Lohia Hospital, where the body of ex-serviceman Ram Kishan Grewal, who committed suicide allegedly over OROP, was kept, to avoid “disruption of health services”.

Both of them were eventually let off but they took to Twitter to share their anger. Gandhi tweeted, “Is it wrong to offer condolences to a grieving family?Govt must apologize for making the family of a soldier suffer” and Kejriwal accused the centre of “gundagardi” while he live-tweeted his detention.

Ever since the episode unfolded, people on social media are sharing videos and pictures of the two leaders criticising them of “playing politics” over something as sensitive as this. In a few pictures that made their way to the Internet, the two leaders can be seen smiling. In one of the videos of Gandhi that has gone viral on social media, he can be heard saying, “okay, it’s over”.

Though, to play the devil’s advocate, the timing of these pictures might have just been off, but then when has that ever stopped Netizens from setting out all guns blazing.

The Bhartiya Janata Party also hit back at the two accusing them of indulging in “politics over death”. “What Rahul Gandhi and Kejriwal are doing is nothing but politics over death. It seems they keep looking to do politics wherever such deaths occur,” said Shrikant Sharma, the party’s national secretary.
