A family was allegedly caught stealing railway property from a 1st class AC coach, triggering outrage on social media. The incident reportedly occurred aboard the Purushottam Express to New Delhi.

In the now-viral video, railway staff can be seen confronting the family on the platform, accusing them of taking bedsheets and towels provided to the passengers during the journey. When questioned by the authorities, the family tried to downplay the act, with one member saying, “It’s a mistake,” in an attempt to justify their actions.

The clip was shared on X by user @bapisahoo, who condemned the act. “Travelling in 1st AC of Purushottam Express is a matter of pride itself. But still people are there who do not hesitate to steal and take home those bedsheets supplied for additional comfort during travel,” the caption read.

The video has since gone viral, with many users expressing disappointment and calling for strict action against the family in question. The incident adds to the list of non-compliance issues Indian Railways has been battling.

“I think it is really a mistake, there are many in that family, but she took only 3 and embarassed all of them. Anyway wrong is wrong, but mistake is not wrong !!! Till Government makes you feel that citizens are also wealth of this country, these events are common, Jingoism is not enough, Government need to have concern and control, then such incidents will be reduced,” a user wrote. “Travelling in first class with a pathetic mindset. These people are the real hurdle in the development of our country,” another user commented.

“Money can’t change your nature. These thieves steal, and the railways get the blame,” a third user reacted.
