Indian Railway passengers often take to social media to highlight the issues of negligence or poor maintenance. On Monday, Aatif Ali, an X user shared a picture that showed insects moving around near his pillow area in a railway seat.
While sharing this incriminating picture he wrote, “Train number 12708 A/C compartment, had cockroaches roaming on our bodies while we were asleep WHERE IS THE PROMISED HYGIENE? @PMOIndia @RailMinIndia @Central_Railway @AshwiniVaishnaw @RailwaySeva @drmsecunderabad @drmhyb”.
Soon the passenger support account of the Railway Ministry responded and asked Ali to share his journey details and mobile number via DM. Ali responded to this and wrote, “Thank you for the prompt reply… I am sure the issue might have gotten solved. I got down only half an hour after posting this at 9 AM”.
In the comments section, many other people recalled similar instances of bad sanitation where passengers saw insects roaming in train coaches.
Sharing a similar experience, a person wrote, “I will say these in every most AC coaches problems, same happened with me while returning from Jasidih to Lucknow, insects bite around neck of mine, I have applied antiseptic then cured. Coach conductor have HIT spray in 1AC, they must to spray in AC coaches before train starts.”
Another person spoke about bad quality food served in trains and wrote, “Even food quality has become poor. (Curd and pickle were there but did not come). The rice quality was very poor. A little bit of pulse, filled with blah blah vegetables.”
