Self-styled ‘godman’ Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and his ‘adopted daughter’ Honeypreet Insan have been in the news ever since the former was convicted for rape. The Dera Sacha Sauda chief may be behind bars now, but the atrocities in his organisation are being talked about a lot. Recently, Honeypreet was arrested after a long chase and was sent to six-day police custody.
Amid all the hullabaloo, the official Twitter handle of United Nations-Water tagged the two in an unexpected tweet on Tuesday. Extending an invitation to join their campaign for World Toilet Day, the Twitter account wrote: “Dear @Gurmeetramrahim, can we count on your support to celebrate toilets on November 19 – #WorldToiletDay?” Another tweet by them read: “Dear @insan_honey, we hope you and @Gurmeetramrahim will lend your voice and support #WorldToiletDay.” People were confused and vexed after looking at the tweets.
While the tweet was soon deleted, it didn’t escape the eyes of Twitter users, who were baffled to see it and couldn’t believe it. Check out what they posted here.
What’s even bizarre is that nobody else was tagged to “support” the campaign other than the two. In fact, the remaining few tweets on the official handle simply advertise the campaign. No sooner did it come into the eyes of Twitterati, they couldn’t stop themselves from expressing rage and brutally trolling the UN body. Take a look at some reactions here.
