Durga Puja in Kolkata isn’t just a festival, but an emotion. That mood has clearly spilled into the corporate world this season. As Navratri colours the city in joy, a clip from Capgemini’s Kolkata office is making the rounds on Instagram, showing how employees brought the celebrations into their workplace.

Posted by Prithwi Dey (@__frustated_monk__2002) with the caption ‘Corporate Durga Puja Celebration… Ft. Capgemini’, the video captures a brightly decorated office floor filled with music, dancing and employees soaking up the festive atmosphere. Some joined in on the moves while others filmed the fun on their phones.

But the response online has been mixed. While many loved seeing Durga Puja being celebrated at the workplace, others felt it symbolised something deeper about Indian corporate culture. “Reasons I fear getting into IT, bluds even forgot how to celebrate and enjoy as human… no hate but this looks too forced and unnatural,” one user wrote. Another commenter, identifying as a Gurgaon Capgemini employee, said, “We want this kind of celebration in Capgemini Candor campus.”

Several people used the viral clip to highlight broader workplace issues. One Instagram user noted, “Social media glamorizes workplaces with dance reels and flashy events, but behind the smiles are stagnant salaries, zero growth, and unrecognized effort. A reminder: not everything that glitters is gold.” Another quipped in Hindi, “Leave cancel karke, ethnic wear m office bulakar nachwake sahanubhuti de rahe hai (They cancel our leave, call us to the office in ethnic wear, make us dance, and then offer sympathy).”

Still, not everyone was cynical. Someone who had actually been part of the event said, “Had been a part of this.. It really feels awesome.”
