Aditi Ganvir, who works in advertising in Mumbai, recently had an absurd encounter with an auto-rickshaw driver who, she claims, ended the ride mid-way and questioned her life choices. According to a viral LinkedIn post, the driver was almost in her destination’s vicinity. However, he ended the ride and added that he regretted accepting the ride.
“Yesterday, my auto driver dropped me off 1 km before my office. Mid-ride. Because madam, itna dur nahi jaa sakta (I cannot go that far),” Ganvir wrote in her LinkedIn post. She further claimed that the driver questioned her choice of workplace, allegedly asking, “Itni door kyun job liya?” (Why did you take a job so far away?)
The driver even started calculating her salary and ranted about how he should have never accepted the ride. “Sometimes, your journey will be inconvenient for others, and they will leave you in between. That’s okay. Just rate them 1 star and move on,” she added.

The post quickly gained traction, sparking a range of reactions on the platform. “While they are ready to do this to a customer. Wonder if it was his own daughter/wife/sister. Would he have dropped her 1km before their destination,” a user wrote.”
“I’m sure you’re not talking about the auto driver here, right? I mean, he just gave you a life lesson in ‘when things don’t go my way, I’ll bail on you mid-ride’ philosophy. Classic. But hey, the real takeaway is how some people think they can control your journey, right?” another user commented.
“18 km of dedication, and 1 km of unsolicited life advice. Auto rides in India really do offer full-stack experiences,” a third user reacted.
