Actor-comedian Kapil Sharma slammed IndiGo airline on X, formerly Twitter, on Wednesday for making the passengers wait in the bus and not informing about the reason for the delay at Chennai airport.

The 42-year-old alleged that first the airline made the passengers wait in the bus for 50 minutes. The flight was supposed to take off at 8 pm and even at 9:20 pm, the pilot hadn’t come because he was stuck in traffic, Sharma said.

“Dear @IndiGo6E first you made us wait in the bus for 50 minz, and now your team is saying pilot is stuck in traffic, what ? Really ? we supposed to take off by 8 pm n it’s 9:20, still there is no pilot in cockpit, do you think these 180 passengers will fly in indigo again ? Never,” he wrote.

In another tweet, Sharma posted a video showing the passengers being deboarded. He said the airline told them that they would need to board another aircraft but again they have to go back to the terminal for security check.

In a video posted by Sharma, the passengers are seen in a heated argument with the airline staff. They are seen demanding to speak to someone in authority.

“People r suffering bcoz of you @IndiGo6E lying lying n lying, there r some old passengers on wheel chairs, not in a very good health condition. Shame on you,” Sharma wrote.

IndiGo responded to the tweet and said the delay was due to operational reasons at Chennai airport.

“I am a regular Indigo flyer and hardly faced any issues like this ever. If the pilot doesn’t come in time, what would the company do at the last moment? Hire another pilot from a shop? What if your sound engineer doesn’t come in time for the show? What would you do? You all will have to wait for him to come. And, I am sure, in the beginning of your career you have definitely faced such issues in events. So, the same goes here, the pilot should be blamed, not the company. In fact, if it’s about an unpredictablely very long traffic jam, then the traffic jam should be blamed, not anyone else,” a user wrote.

“I always believed that IndiGo is the most punctual airlines because I always had a great experience. It’s shocking to come across a such news where passengers are suffering just because of the casual attitude of pilot and airline staffs,” said another.

“You are a superstar! People follow you by example. Therefore, show your best side in face of adversity! You are behaving like the new rich! Be mature man! You can not act everywhere like you do in comedy nights,” another netizen commented.
