A 27-year-old Mumbai influencer, Aanvi Kamdar, died after falling into a 300 ft gorge near the popular Kumbhe waterfall in Mangaon in Maharashtra’s Raigad district. The incident occurred on Tuesday while Kamdar was on a monsoon outing with seven friends, the police said.

Kamdar, who stayed in Mumbai, was on a trip to the waterfall with seven friends on July 16. The outing turned tragic around 10.30 am when she slipped into a deep crevice while recording a video.

Known as @theglocaljournal on Instagram, Kamdar had 2,57,000 followers and shared content on travel, luxury discoveries, cafés, itineraries, tips, and personal experiences. Her bio indicated she was a chartered accountant and had previously worked at Deloitte.

According to a police official from Mangaon police station, Kamdar had gone to the scenic waterfall with her friends during the rainy season, as reported by PTI. In the report, he explained that while filming the surroundings, she fell into the gorge. He added that after her friends raised an alarm, the police and local rescuers reached the spot and took her to the nearby Mangaon Taluka Government Hospital. She passed away during treatment there.

Her final reel was posted just two days ago where she shared suggestions for the upcoming long weekend on August 15.

Upon hearing the news, social media users flooded her last reel with condolences. One user expressed, “I can’t believe it. This is deeply saddening and has kept me up all night. She was one of the kindest people I knew. Please, let’s focus on praying for her soul to rest in peace and remember the joy and positivity she brought to our lives. Stop commenting on the ‘reel’ part, we were not there, don’t amplify misinformation. Shame on all the media houses that just take one false article & rewrite it & spread BS. Instead , honor her memory with love and respect. Let’s remember her smile and the happiness she spread. Please be empathetic!!!!!”

A second user said, “The girl with the warmest heart & most humble smile.” Meanwhile, a third user mentioned, “I am so shook by the news. You were always the chirpy and kind person and I used to keep coming back to your page for any travel tips. Will miss you! Aanvi, I pray you rest in peace.”
