Social media is full of influencers now and many people, and even animals, find overnight fame after a video of them goes viral. Many people wonder how much social media influencers earn and so it would come as a huge surprise that a Golden Retriever named Tucker earns more than $1 million a year (Rs 8 crore and 28 lakh approximately).
According to a New York Post article, Tucker is in the number one spot of canine celebrities with earnings between $6,656 – $11,094 (Rs 55 lakh – Rs 92 lakh) per post, it quoted research by portrait company Printed Pet Memories. The dog that belongs to Courtney Budzyn, 31, has been hitting seven figures a year in earnings from sponsored ads since he was 2.
Budzyn, who used to clean houses, and her husband, Mike, a civil engineer, quit their jobs to manage the dog and his puppy son Todd full time. According to the report, a YouTube-paid post can be anywhere from $40,000 to $60,000 (Rs 33 lakh to 49 lakh) for a 30-minute pre-roll. From Instagram, they make about $20,000 (more than Rs 16 lakh) for three to eight stories.
Budzyn had made Tucker an Instagram page the day she got him. The dog was eight weeks old then in June 2018. The next month, his first video that showed Tucker pawing at an ice cube went viral.
Tucker now has close to 25 million followers across social media. The dog has 11.1 million followers on TikTok, 5.1 million on YouTube, 3.4 million on Instagram and more than 62,000 on Twitter, according to the report.
According to the research by Printed Pet Memories, the second canine on the list is @WhatAboutBunny with eight million followers on social media and earnings of $4,997-$8,328 per post and @itsdougthepug is third with six million followers and earnings between $3,599 -$5,999 per post.
