Flash floods triggered by torrential rain have claimed at least 104 lives in Central Texas, particularly along the Guadalupe River. Harrowing videos showing the river’s rapid rise, trapping people within minutes, have flooded the Internet.

One such viral video captures a dramatic rescue operation showing a woman being pulled to safety through powerful water currents. The video, shared by PEOPLE on Instagram, shows rescue team members gripping a rope with urgency as they work to bring the woman out of the water. Shouts of “Release, release! Stop, stop!” can be heard as team members coordinate.

The video quickly drew attention, gaining plaudits for the rescue team. “May God enrichly bless all the responders helping in this horrible tragedy and also the souls that were lost and families,” a user wrote. “My future son in law is helping out with cutting tree limbs so debris piles can be dug through and searched for bodies. Found a body today almost 5’ deep in sediment Not an easy task,” another user shared.

“So scary. God bless the first responders and volunteers,” a third user commented.

Rescue and search operations are still underway in Texas after devastating flash floods hit Kerr County and surrounding areas over the July Fourth holiday. A torrential midnight rain transformed the Guadalupe River into a deadly, raging torrent that devastated the historic Camp Mystic, a century-old Christian girls’ summer camp, where 27 campers and counselors have been confirmed dead.

President Donald Trump, who had criticised the Biden administration for allegedly neglecting Republican-leaning areas during a hurricane in North Carolina last year, urged restraint in the aftermath of the disaster. “This is a hundred-year catastrophe, and it’s just so horrible to watch,” Trump said. “Let’s not turn this into a blame game.”
