A pilot took romance to new heights, quite literally, by proposing to his stewardess girlfriend—Paula—during a flight, leaving her completely surprised. Captain Konrad Hanc, flying with Polish Airlines’ Embraer 195, orchestrated a beautiful mid-air proposal, the video of which quickly went viral.

The footage, taken on a flight bound for Krakow, shows Captain Hanc stepping out of the cockpit to address the passengers over the PA system. “Today, we have a very special person on board, and I hope she isn’t expecting anything,” he announced to the passengers.

With tears welling up in his eyes, he poured out his feelings, expressing how meeting his girlfriend on the job transformed his life. Then, in a classic romantic gesture, he dropped to one knee and popped the big question. “About a year and a half ago, I met the most wonderful person in this job, and she completely changed my life. You are my greatest dream come true, and that’s why I have to ask you something, honey. Will you marry me?”

The video shared by the official Instagram account of LOT Polish Airlines has social media users across the globe reaching for tissues. The caption to their post read, “We’re not crying, you’re crying 🥺🥺🥺 Let’s raise a glass to Captain Konrad and Stewardess Paula as they embark on their journey together💍 Here’s the video of their sky-high proposal on our flight to Kraków, the city where their story began.”

Watch the video below:

Holding a bouquet handed to him by a fellow stewardess, Captain Hanc waited anxiously for his girlfriend’s response. Paula, who was taken by surprise, joyfully accepted his proposal, running down the aisle to embrace her future husband.

Paula, excited, even joked about not knowing which hand the ring should go on. As the passengers cheered and applauded, Captain Hanc proudly announced, “She said yes!”

The couple’s love story began on a flight to Krakow. They met for the first time then. They sealed their commitment to each other with hugs and kisses on another flight with warm wishes from passengers and online well-wishers alike.

It’s a tale that proves that sometimes, love really is in the air.
