Dogs are not only wonderful pets but for people with certain conditions, they are saviours as they assist them each day in managing their illness. A video that has surfaced online shows a service dog assisting its owner after she suffered an episode because of her condition.

Katie has postural tachycardia syndrome (PoTS), a condition that causes an abnormal increase in heart rate after sitting or standing up. Bailey, her service trained dog, is able to detect when its owner is going through one of her episodes.

The video shows the woman working in her kitchen when her dog came over to her as it sensed she was suffering an episode. The dog jumped on the woman to tell her she should sit down. The dog then brought Katie’s mobile phone to her that was lying on the kitchen counter. The medicine was also lying on the counter but it was a little away from the edge. So, the dog jumped on the counter to fetch her the medicine. And not only this, the dog then opened the refrigerator and brought a bottle of water for her. The dog then laid next to her to comfort her.

“This is not a dog..this an angel,” commented a user. “Service dogs are amazing how they can sense your “aura” before anybody can even notice anything’s wrong,” posted another. “My dog won’t even bring me the ball back,” joked a netizen.

“Dogs are truly amazing. I have an epilepsy trained dog, well on going but he knows when it’s about to happen. Usually his bark is 5 minute window to sit down, he lays with during the process and has all medical info on his collar. It’s not total freedom but to not have fear is win win. Anyone who has a support dog the make life so much better,” shared another user.
