Jimmy Donaldson, popular as MrBeast, was caught in the eye of a storm after animal rights group Prevention for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) slammed the YouTube star for getting into a bizarre hypothetical debate: Could 100 men take down one gorilla?

On Sunday, April 27, MrBeast replied “Should I test this?” to a viral post by @DreamChasnMike that read, “I think 100 n**as could beat 1 gorilla everybody just gotta be dedicated to the sh**.

After his reply quickly gained attention and triggered criticism, MrBeast deleted the post without giving any explanation to his followers.

The following day, the 26-year-old YouTuber shared a photoshopped image of himself surrounded by gorillas on X and jokingly wrote, “Need 100 men to test this, any volunteers?” and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk responded to it, saying, “Sure, what’s the worst that could happen?”

PETA condemned the post and wrote, “100 men vs. a gorilla? Maybe try 100 reasons to leave animals out of your content instead…”

Several social media users chimed in with a range of reactions, with a user saying, “All I need is a USA visa. My friends call me gorilla fighter.” Another user commented, “Bro give me 25 dudes who have a similar mindset as I do and that Gorilla doesn’t stand a chance.”

“I think people really underestimate the true power of what a silverback gorilla can do,” a third user reacted.

Known for his over-the-top challenges and philanthropy-based content, MrBeast typically stays away from controversial topics. However, earlier this month, he did speak out about the economic impact of President Donald Trump’s tariffs, describing them as “pretty brutal” in terms of rising costs for his business, though he stopped short of revealing any specific financial losses.

Despite his generally clean public image, MrBeast has previously faced scrutiny, including allegations of workplace misconduct and questionable business practices, which he denied in an interview last year, defending both himself and his team, COMPLEX reported.
