An Indian-origin postman in Australia is winning plaudits after he was captured performing a thoughtful gesture while delivering a courier.
Gurpreet Singh, a delivery driver in Logan, a suburb south of Brisbane, was captured on a home security camera last Thursday doing far more than just delivering a package. As rain began to fall, instead of simply dropping the parcel by the door and walking off, Singh noticed washed bed sheets hanging on a clothesline.
Rather than leaving them to get soaked, Singh carefully took the sheets down and moved them to a sheltered area.

The video quickly gained attention, garnering applause for Singh. “I hope you called whatever company he was delivering for and told them they need to give him a raise, and a promotion and anything else he wants! That was soooo kind!” a user wrote.
But not all were happy. “I think he meant to help. However, those sheets are now damp. One also touched the ground, they were not folded. So they would need to go back on the line anyway. But now I’m gonna have to wash them again,” another user commented.
“Bless this man. Unselfish. Kind. Thoughtful. How many people do you know who would do this?” a third user reacted. “His mom raised him well,” a fourth user said.
Speaking to CNN affiliate 9 News, Verrity Wandel, the customer, described her surprise upon returning home, “I just had visions of my washing being wrapped round and round the line, or embedded in the garden, and I drove in and there was no washing on the line. And I thought, that’s odd.”
When asked what made him stop to help, Singh told CNN’s 9 News, “I wondered whether I can do it or not — then I did it anyway.”
Australia Post, where Singh has worked as a contractor for four years, said it had been inundated with public interest following the video. A spokesperson said, “He tries to help customers out where he can.”
