Amazon’s Executive Chairman Jeff Bezos is to marry former news anchor Lauren Sanchez in an extravagant ceremony in Italy. Amid social media speculation, the City of Venice broke silence on the star-studded wedding.
In an official statement, as reported by Forbes, Venice said it will host a wedding ceremony for the billionaire couple featuring 200 guests without causing any disruption to the city, its residents and visitors. The City released the statement after several “fake” local reports claimed that the event would disrupt the locals and tourists.
“The many speculations and fake news circulating about Jeff Bezos’ wedding are completely unfounded,” the statement said, as reported by Forbes. According to a CNN report, city officials have confirmed that the wedding festivities will begin on June 24 and conclude on 26 aboard the multi-billionaire’s $500-million superyacht, Koru, which will be stationed in the Venice lagoon.
Venice Mayor Luigi Brugnaro stated that the city is “mutually working and supporting” the wedding organisers “to ensure that the event will be absolutely respectful of the fragility and uniqueness of the city.”
Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez began dating in 2019 and got engaged in May 2023. The couple ended their previous marriages in 2019 and 2023, respectively. In an appearance on the Today Show in November last year, Sanchez revealed she is planning her wedding “just like every other bride” with her Pinterest boards. “I never thought at 54 that I’d be getting married. Life is just beginning,” she said.
As reported by Page Six, she was formerly married to Hollywood agent Patrick Whitesell, with whom she has two children, Ella and Evan. She also has a 23-year-old son, Nikko, with former NFL player Tony Gonzalez. Meanwhile, Bezos was married to MacKenzie Scott from 1993 to 2019, and they share four children.
