An emotional video of an Indian DoorDash delivery worker in the US has struck a chord online, shedding light on the loneliness and struggles many immigrants quietly endure. The clip, recorded by an American customer during a delivery, shows a raw and vulnerable moment as the man opens up about how isolated he feels in the country he hoped to call home.

At the start, the customer casually asks if he is “Chinese or Spanish”. The worker gently corrects him: “I am Indian.” When asked if he likes living in the US, his composure breaks, he admits, “I want to go back, sir. They don’t accept us here. You are nice, you are talking, but they don’t like to talk to immigrants. I am going to be a citizen, but my heart is sad.”

Pressed on whether it is “the president or the people” who make him feel unwelcome, the man explains that it is everyday interactions that weigh on him. He goes on to reveal the painful conflict at the centre of his life: “I have two daughters, my daughters are not going back. I am stuck. I want to leave the USA forever because if you are not happy somewhere and people are not accepting… But unfortunately, my daughters say they want to stay here. And my wife also doesn’t want to leave.”

The clip has since gone viral, with thousands expressing sympathy and sparking conversations about the challenges faced by the Indian diaspora in America, particularly the quiet sacrifices parents make while trying to give their families a better future.

A user wrote, “This is really sad to hear and I know many people that feel like this, but the truth is people will hate what they don’t understand! You have to be strong and remember the main goal that you’re focused on, he will be OK in time! But never look for acceptance in these people because once you do, you have been brought down to that level of unruly approval by race/ ethnicity.”

An American user wrote, “Get this man’s @ info. I understand I will help him. I’m so sorry for some people’s behavior here. It’s not all of us. I love and accept everyone. this makes my heart so sad for him. Hardworking loving people.”

Another individual commented, “His wife and daughters won’t understand his pain even though that elderly guy is working hard for hem.. so pity.”
