Alexandra Hildebrandt, a 66-year-old historian and museum director from Germany, has welcomed her 10th child. Hildebrandt, who owns and runs the Wall Museum at Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin, gave birth to her son, Philipp, on March 19 at Charite Hospital in Berlin. Delivered by caesarean section, the baby weighed seven pounds and 13 ounces.

According to Fox News, he was placed in an incubator right after birth due to medical reasons.

“A big family is not only something wonderful, but above all, it is important for raising children properly,” Hildebrandt told TODAY. Despite her age, Hildebrandt revealed that she conceived naturally without the use of fertility treatments.

She had her first child in 1977 and later became a mother again in her 50s, giving birth to eight more children via C-sections. Her large family includes her oldest daughter, 45-year-old Svetlana, and 36-year-old Artiom. The younger children, twins Elisabeth and Maximilian, 12, along with Alexandra, 10; Leopold, 8; Anna, 7; Maria, 4; and Katharina, 2, were all born during her later years.

When asked about the secret to managing pregnancies at her age, Hildebrandt explained that she maintained an active lifestyle and had never used any form of contraception. “I eat very healthily, swim regularly for an hour, run for two hours, don’t smoke or drink, and have never used contraception,” she told TODAY.

This is not the first incident when an elderly woman has given birth. In 2023, Safina Namukwaya from Uganda delivered twins at 70 after giving birth to a baby girl in 2020.
