Elon Musk’s estranged transgender daughter, Vivian Wilson, has revealed she is living on a tight budget despite being the child of the world’s richest man. In an interview with The Cut, the 21-year-old aspiring model said she shares an apartment with three roommates because it is “cheaper”.

“People assume I have a lot of money. I don’t have hundreds of thousands of dollars at my disposal,” Wilson said. “My mom is rich, right? But obviously the other one (Musk)… is unimaginable degrees of wealth.”

Worth an estimated $413 billion, Musk remains the richest person alive, but Wilson shared that she has no interest in his fortune. “I don’t have a desire to be superrich,” she said, adding, “I can afford food. I have friends, a shelter, and some expendable income, which is nice and much more fortunate than most people my age in Los Angeles.”

Wilson — Musk’s eldest child out of 14 — publicly cut ties with the SpaceX founder in 2022 after legally changing her gender and name. Since then, she has been outspoken against him, once calling her father a “pathetic man-child” who refused to accept her identity.

Responding to her, Musk blamed her estrangement on ideology, saying she was “killed by the woke mind virus” and claiming he was “tricked” into allowing her transition at 16.

Reflecting on the rift in her interview, Wilson highlighted that the most stereotypical thing about her was “Daddy issues”.

Speaking about her privileged upbringing, she recalls her years at a “private high school filled with nepo babies,” where classmates included Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s daughter, Apple. She said she grew up learning several languages, including Korean, Chinese, Japanese, and Spanish.

Wilson attended college in both Canada and Japan before dropping out, blaming artificial intelligence for draining her “motivation.”

Now signed with an agent and fresh off a Teen Vogue cover, she admitted she struggles with the spotlight. “I fought so hard for so long to be viewed as a regular person. There was a moment, literally right before I became famous where no one knew who I was. It was amazing. Everyone treated me as a regular person. I kind of miss that. But I also like being famous,” she said.

“I guess I’m kind of indifferent to it. But I like the fact that it makes me money,” she added.
