A hospital in New York City has terminated an emergency room doctor for her controversial posts online that applauded the Hamas massacre at a music festival in southern Israel. Dr Dana Diab, an ER physician at Lenox Hill Hospital, a non-profit medical centre, was fired over an Instagram story in which she rejoiced at the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7.
Sharing a video from the attack on her Instagram Stories, Diab wrote, “Zionist settlers getting a taste of their own medicine”. An account on X called Stop Antisemitism (@StopAntisemites) shared a screenshot of the Instagram Story posted by Diab and her Instagram account that contained a Palestine flag in the bio.
“NYC – Dr. Dana Diab is an ER physician at Lenox Hill (@lenoxhill). Dina Diab took to Instagram rejoicing Zionist settlers [aka jews] were murdered, raped, beheaded, and kidnapped by the Hamas terror group on Saturday October 7th. Jewish patients beware,” it wrote on X.
Northwell Health confirmed on Tuesday morning that Diab no longer worked for the hospital system.
“We’re aware of offensive comments posted by a team member regarding the crisis in the Middle East & are deeply sorry for the hurt this has caused. These views don’t represent Lenox Hill Hospital & Northwell Health & go against our core values. They are no longer with Northwell,” it wrote on X.
“I will never go to Lenox Hill again,” an X user commented. “How can we be sure @lenoxhill will treat Jewish patients with the same care as other patients?” asked another. “How can there not be any consequences for this?” wrote a third.
According to a post by the Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Centre on Instagram, Diab graduated from the institute. She is a Palestinian but was raised in Qatar, it said.
