Dashcam footage capturing the dramatic moment a semi-truck was launched over the edge of the Clark Memorial Bridge has been released. The Clark Memorial Bridge, also known as the Second Street Bridge, connects Kentucky and Indiana. The incident, which occurred in March, left an 18-wheeler precariously dangling over the Ohio River, creating a scene reminiscent of a high-stakes action movie.
Miraculously, a disaster was averted as emergency rescue teams swiftly responded to the scene. A harrowing live-streamed rescue ensued, with responders successfully lowering a person to assist the driver, Sydney Thomas, 26, to safety.
Now, newly released dashcam footage from the semi-truck provides further insight into the incident. The footage was shared by Colin Rugg on X and now has 11.2 million views.
The accident was triggered by a Chevrolet truck driven by Trevor W Branham, 33, who was speeding and swerving. The vehicle, after avoiding a stalled car in the right lane, collided with the Sysco semi-truck, causing it to veer over the bridge’s edge. The footage shows Thomas had little chance to avoid the crash.

He wrote in his post: “JUST IN: Dashcam footage released of the semi-truck that launched over the edge of the 2nd Street Bridge in Kentucky. 33-year-old Trevor W. Branham has been charged for the crash. Branham’s Chevrolet truck can be seen speeding and swerving before weaving out of the way to avoid a stalled car in the right lane.”
Branham has been charged with four counts of wanton endangerment and one count of operating on a suspended license. He, however, pleaded not guilty. The crash has left him in a wheelchair. The investigation continues, but for now, the public can only marvel at the narrow escape captured in the dramatic footage.
One user wrote, “Thank God for whatever was looking over her that day and to the man who saved her!” Another user said, “Sydney Thomas was saved by her own good driving and following of fundamentals. Some of the worst places to speed are on bridges. Since she wasn’t, she was able to stop enough to avoid going completely off the edge.Just goes to show you why following the signs is a good idea.” And another user commented, “ou know the driver of that Semi was praying as she was hanging there, even if she never prayed before. That was crazy!”
