In one of the most hilarious stories to come out of Thailand recently, a feisty little feline found herself at the center of an unusual police incident that quickly went viral online.
It all began when a good Samaritan brought a lost American Shorthair cat to a police station in Bangkok. Officer Da Parinda Pakeesuk, who’s known on social media for his love of animals, welcomed the unexpected visitor and offered her shelter. Dressed in a charming pink harness, the cat – later revealed to be named Nub Tang – immediately made her presence known by swatting, scratching, and even biting several officers, according to South China Morning Post.
Undeterred, officer Pakeesuk took it all in stride. In a tongue-in-cheek Facebook post, he wrote: “This cat has been charged with assaulting police officers and is about to be detained. Please share this post so her owner can come and bail her out.” The post went viral, bringing a smile to thousands of netizens.
That evening, the officer took Nub Tang home with him, and shared a photo of her calmly sitting in his car. He had already prepared food, toys, and a comfortable space for her. “She is living her best life, while the police are the true victims,” he said.
While dozens of people expressed interest in adopting her, Pakeesuk reminded everyone that the goal was to reunite her with her actual family. “If you truly love cats, feel free to adopt one of the many strays at my home, or from a local shelter,” he said, referencing the 20 cats and six dogs he rescued over the years.
Nub Tang’s owner soon came forward. According to Thai news outlet Khaosod English, her name means “counting money” in Thai. To celebrate her safe return, her owner dressed her in an elegant lace collar and visited the station to take her home.
Before letting her go, Pakeesuk decided to have some more fun. He drafted a light-hearted police report from the cat’s point of view, quoting her as saying, “I was just hungry. I did not mean to bite anyone.” She “signed” the report with two tiny paw prints and even posed for a mugshot.
No fines were issued, but Nub Tang did receive a stern – read affectionate – verbal warning. Pakeesuk said, “Hopefully she’s learned her lesson.”
