BTS’ Jin chosen as South Korea’s torchbearer at Paris Olympics 2024; ARMY reacts

Jin returned from mandatory military service in June, and reunited with BTS bandmates.

JinJin recently wrapped up his mandatory military service.

On July 2, it was announced that BTS member Jin will serve as South Korea’s torchbearer at the 2024 Paris Olympics this summer. His role in the Olympic torch relay aims to promote messages of “harmony” and “peace,” according to an official statement, reports Teen Vogue.

The iconic Olympic torch relay precedes every edition of the Games, symbolising unity and sporting spirit. Originating at Olympia, Greece, the Olympic flame embarks on a journey through diverse nations before reaching the host city, a tradition inaugurated during the 1936 Berlin Summer Olympics.

Jin recently wrapped up his mandatory military service and commemorated this significant moment by reuniting with his BTS bandmates, all of whom were granted leave to celebrate this milestone together.

On hearing that the oldest BTS member would represent South Korea as the torchbearer, ARMYs couldn’t contain their joy and expressed their excitement widely.

Reacting to the post on Instagram, one fan wrote, “Yeahhh 🔥🔥🔥 lets gooo Jinnn.” Another fan almost commented, “The best the best!!!!.”

A third fan said, “OLYMPICS TORCHBEARER JIN PRIDE OF KOREA JIN JIN AT PARIS OLYMPICS.” Another fan said, “This is nice more Kpop stars during the olympics cause jungkook performed in Qatar I literally wonder if seventeen bss will go their since their songs got chosen.”

The Paris Summer Olympics will kick off on July 26. It was revealed earlier this year that Snoop Dogg will be joining NBC’s lineup to cover the Games. He’ll be delivering “regular reports” as part of the Olympic Primetime Show, reported Billboard.
