LinkedIn report that 70% of the skills required across various industries will experience significant changes by 2030, with artificial intelligence (AI) at the forefront of these developments.
The report further highlights a remarkable 140% increase in the rate at which LinkedIn users are updating their profiles with new skills since 2022, highlighting the growing necessity of upskilling.
When hiring for working professionals, 69% of Indian recruiters point out a mismatch and gap between the skills professionals have and what employers need.
India, presently overtaking as the world’s fourth-largest economy, benefits from a substantially educated workforce; however, it has an employment-to-population ratio of just 52.8% and a labour dependency ratio of 1.52.
LinkedIn’s latest Skills on the Rise report for 2025 highlighted the fastest-growing skills key for professionals who want to rise in today’s job market and stay ahead in the future world of work.
Notably, soft skills like creativity, problem-solving, communication, and strategic thinking are fast becoming necessary across industries, according to the recent LinkedIn Skills on the Rise 2025 report.
Amid technological advancements and increasing market volatility, these skills enable businesses to differentiate themselves through innovative ideas and creative solutions, while staying ahead of the curve by forecasting future opportunities and challenges.
Nonetheless, AI literacy is undoubtedly becoming the most sought-after skill globally and a baseline expectation across various job functions, with over 95 per cent of C-suite leaders in India prioritising AI skills over traditional experience.
