Seven women amongst the top protesting wrestlers have moved Supreme Court on Tuesday seeking registration of FIR against Wrestling Federation of India president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud listed the matter for Friday, April 28, and ordered names of 7 complainants be redacted from judicial records to suppress identities.

The apex court also issued a notice to Delhi Police, according to ANI. The wrestlers had filed a complaint against Brij Bhushan with Delhi police last Friday.

“There are serious allegation that is contained in the petition by Wrestlers who have represented India”, the SC noted.

Meanwhile, in their renewed protest against WFI chief and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, top wrestlers, who spent Sunday night at Jantar Mantar, sought the intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday.

And, in a departure from their earlier stand, they also rallied for support from political parties, farmers’ organisations, women’s organisations and khaps. During their protest in January, the wrestlers had urged parties not to give their protest a political colour after senior CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat sought to show support.
