After Thailand,a Georgia link to attack on Israel diplomat

The bomb was noticed by the driver who alerted Georgian security agencies

Agencies probing the February attack on the Israeli diplomat have found that the mobile number used by an alleged Iranian suspect was in use in Georgia in 2011.

This is significant because hours after the diplomats vehicle was bombed on Delhis Aurangzeb Road,a similar bomb was found attached to the vehicle of an Israeli embassy official in Georgias capital Tbilisi. The bomb was noticed by the driver who alerted Georgian security agencies.

Delhi Police say they have already established a link between the Delhi attack and a botched terror plot in Bangkok on February 14. Sedaghatzadeh Masoud, the alleged operational head of the module, was arrested in Malaysia on February 15 while trying to flee to Iran.

With the help of Masouds Iranian mobile number, investigators found that he was in touch with an Indian number that belonged to Houshang Afshar Irani, the Iranian suspect who allegedly attached the sticky bomb to the Israel embassy vehicle. The Indian number was used by Irani who visited India twice, first from April 25,2011 to May 6,2011,and again from January 29,2012 to February 13,2012, an investigator said.

Police said the number was procured by Irani on his first visit, and used during both visits. The same mobile phone was found active on June 25,2011 in Georgia. Analysis of Iranis phone revealed that he surveyed the Israeli embassy and the site of the attack, and that he was in contact with journalist Syed Mohammad Ahmed Kazmi who has been arrested, police said.
