Hrithik Roshan lauds father Rakesh Roshan’s discipline: ‘Boom! Cancer gone. That’s magic’

Hrithik Roshan recently opened up about how he feels inspired by his father — producer and director Rakesh Roshan — every day. “What sets my father apart is that he doesn’t wait for motivation. He doesn’t wait. You are never going to get to where you want to get if you are always waiting for motivation. It is the discipline that you have to be in practice. Discipline says, ‘I don’t care what you feel like doing or not, you just have to do it because that’s what you have decided,'” said Hrithik, 51, in The Roshans documentary on Netflix.

The Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai actor added, “My dad is so disciplined that when cancer hit him, he didn’t have to change much. He just took that discipline and applied it to the disease. Boom! Cancer gone. That’s magic.”

Discipline and consistency build on the idea of small, daily actions that accumulate significant results over time, said clinical psychologist Kamna Chhibber. This can apply to any area of life, including your health, lifestyle, and professional sphere. “Both have value and need to be present for people to do well in life. They are interdependent,” noted Chhibber.

While motivation is an external factor that may act as the initial spark, consistency and discipline help one keep going every day.

Key points to keep in mind are consistency and simplicity. “The focus is on choosing sustainable lifestyles or ways to live, which can make it easier to stick with the routine,” said Sautabh Bothra, CEO and yoga trainer at Habuild.

A consistent and moderate approach will yield the best results in the long run.

 

In reality, being consistent every single day can bring results beyond imagination. “So, while you may say yes to that protein shake, don’t forget to pair it with daily exercise and quality sleep. It’s the simple things done consistently that lead to remarkable results that are no less than magic,” said Bothra.
