As many as 9,79,327 posts are vacant in various departments and ministries under the government of India as on March 1, 2021, Dr Jitendra Singh informed the Parliament. Out of these, 2,93,943 vacancies are vacant in the railways which is the highest across all ministries.
Over 1.55 lakh posts are vacant in the three armed forces, of which the maximum 1.36 lakh vacancies are in the Indian Army. Meanwhile, Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt said there is a shortage of 8,129 officers in the Indian Army that includes Army Medical Corps and Army Dental Corps.
In the Navy, there is a deficiency of 12,428 personnel. There is a shortage of 1,653 officers, 29 medical and dental officers, and 10,746 sailors, the minister said in his reply. In the Indian Air Force, there is a shortage of 7,031 personnel.
Home affairs, posts and revenue departments are other departments with more vacant positions.
“The government has already instructed all ministries, and departments to fill the vacant posts. Rozgar melas are also being organised by government which will act as a catalyst for further employment generation,” Singh informed.
While launching the ‘Rozgar mela’ PM Narendra Modi shared in intentions of recruiting 10 lakh youth into various departments and ministries under the central government.
