The Jind rally called by Rajya Sabha MP Birender Singh will be the official platform to launch the Food Security Scheme on August 20. This development seems to be the result of the recent bonhomie between Singh and Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda at the intervention of the Congress high command. Two days back both leader had lunch together where they reportedly buried their differences,at least for now.

Addressing mediapersons,Singh said he had asked Hooda to launch the food security scheme at the Jind rally rather than launching it from 21 separate platforms.

When asked whether the Chief Minister would come to the rally,Singh said,“There is no question of his not coming.”

Replying to a question on Sonia Gandhi’s participation at the rally,Singh said,“I have sent a request to the Congress president, but she is a highly protected person and her programme is always decided according to that.”

He said his rally will further strengthen the party as and benefit 1.35 crore people in Haryana.

He refused to be drawn into the controversy surrounding the Robert Vadra-DLF deals. “It is a matter between two private companies. I don’t think it’s fair and correct to drag Congress into this,” he said.
