SIRSA: An e-library will be inaugurated at Dhani Bharokha village in Haryanas Sirsa district on August 15 with the state government claiming that it will be the countrys first e-library. The government also plans to set up 50 more e-libraries in 50 villages where the Rajiv Gandhi Sewa Kendras have been set up. The one at Dhani Bharokha village will be inaugurated by Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Sukhbir Kataria.
Haryana increases BCom,BSc seats
CHANDIGARH: The Haryana government has decided to increase the number of seats in BSc (medical and non-medical) and BCom streams in all government colleges in the state. A spokesperson of the Higher Education Department,however,said the colleges will be allowed to admit additional students only if they possess sufficient infrastructure.
Power distribution losses cut by 16%
CHANDIGARH: The Pillar Box System of power distribution has drastically reduced aggregate technical and commercial (AT&C) losses,a study carried out by the Haryana power discoms at Dhani Kahan Singh village has concluded. A spokesperson of the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) said that the distribution system had brought down losses by 16 per cent.
93 graduate from Jindal schools
CHANDIGARH: At least 93 students from the Jindal Global Law School,Jindal Global Business School and Jindal School of International Affairs of the OP Jindal Global University were handed their degrees at the second convocation ceremony held at the University campus on Thursday. It was presided over by Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. Congress MP Naveen Jindal who is also Chancellor of the University said: At the University we are striving to develop world class research and teaching that is socially beneficial and globally relevant.
Power shutdown in Nahan today
NAHAN: The assistant engineer,HPSEB Nahan ( sub-division) R K Sharma said that there would be power shut-down in the parts of Nahan town between 10 am and 4 pm on Friday. They include Nahan Foundry,Purbia Mohalla,Hathi-ki-kabar,Court Area,Auliwala Gadda and the HRTC Workshop.
Rohtak PGIMS to treat Hepatitis-C
CHANDIGARH: The Haryana government on Thursday designated the Gastroenterology department of PGIMS,Rohtak,as the primary nodal centre for Hepatitis-C treatment and appointed Head of the department Dr Parveen Malhotra as primary nodal officer of the centre. A PGIMS spokesperson said the decision was made following observations that most patients suffering from Hepatitis-C in the state belong to Jind,Kaithal and Fatehabad districts.
Man booked for raping woman
CHANDIGARH: The Rewari police on Thursday booked a Masit village resident Pawan on charges of wrongfully confining and raping a 22-year-old woman of his village. The victim alleged that Pawan had kept her hostage and had repeatedly raped her over the past month.
