Haryana Election Results 2024 Live: 3 Independent MLAs extend support to BJP, party’s seat tally rises to 51

In the recent Haryana Assembly elections, Congress faced significant setbacks, attributed to several key missteps. Firstly, the party's over-reliance on Jat votes, which constitute about 27% of the electorate, proved detrimental. While Congress initially led in some Jat-dominated areas, many crucial seats ultimately swung in favor of the BJP, highlighting a failure to broaden their appeal beyond this demographic.

Additionally, internal conflicts, particularly between Dalit leader Kumari Selja and former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda, weakened the party's unity. This infighting, coupled with a lack of clear leadership and poor candidate selection strategies, led to disenchantment among supporters. The Congress’s overconfidence following improved Lok Sabha results further contributed to their downfall, as they failed to effectively translate their campaign issues into voter support.

As the BJP progress towards victory in Haryana Assembly polls amid vote counting, party leader Anil Vij on Tuesday sang, “Main zindagi ka saath nibhata chala gaya…", a song picturised on legendary actor Dev Anand.

Also known for his singing talent, the saffron party's firebrand leader, Vij is a six-time MLA from Ambala Cantt, is seeking re-election from the constituency.

As per the trends, initially he was trailing for some time to Independent candidate Chitra Sarwara from the constituency, but as per latest trends on ECI website, Vij was ahead by a margin of 5,377 votes.

On Congress trailing behind BJP, she said: "Let's wait for the final results. I am sure Congress will definitely win."

If all goes well, Congress will form the government (in Haryana),"

Election Results Haryana: On Haryana election result trends, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi says, "I congratulate the BJP because even after so much anti-incumbency wave, it seems they are forming the government in Haryana...The Congress party needs to think about its strategy because wherever there is a direct fight with the BJP, the Congress party gets weakened..."

She further said, "Maharashtra assembly elections are being fought on issues which are completely different from Haryana. They (BJP) broke parties, and families just for the sake of power. They misused the Election Commission and Constitution...The industries from Maharashtra are being taken from Maharashtra to other states...Maharashtra will vote based on emotions..."
