After a successful run in cinemas and earning over Rs 1000 crore globally, Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD is all set for its OTT debut. The film, directed by Nag Ashwin, was released in cinemas on June 27. Along with Prabhas, the film features a stellar ensemble cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Deepika Padukone. Actors Dulquer Salmaan, filmmaker SS Rjamouli and others feature in pivotal cameos in the dystopian sci-fi film.

Where will Kalki 2898 AD released online?

Streaming giants Netflix and Prime Video both announced that the film will be streamed on their platforms in different languages. While the Kalki 2898 AD Hindi version is streaming on Netflix, you can watch the film’s Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam versions on Prime Video from today.

Why is Kalki 2898 AD on both Netflix, Prime Video

The dual-platform release strategy by the makers of the film and OTT giants will ensure that Kalki 2898 AD reaches a wider audience across different regions and languages, all over the world. The approach is expected to maximise viewership and cater to a diverse viewership having varied linguistic preferences.

Taking to social media, Netflix posted, “Iss yug ka EPIC blockbuster aa raha hai Netflix par, Hindi mein 🔥🔥 Watch #Kalki2898AD Hindi arriving on 22nd August on Netflix.”

Sharing the release date of Kalki 2898 AD in other languages, Prime Video shared on Instagram, “The dawn of a new ERA awaits you 🌅 And this is your gateway into the GRAND world of Kalki⛩️🔥 #Kalki2898ADOnPrime🔥, Aug 22.”

Speaking about the release, director Nag Ashwin said, in a statement, “Bringing Kalki 2898 AD (Hindi) to Netflix allows us to share this story with a global audience. It’s a film that delves deep into the themes of hope, destiny, and the eternal struggle between good and evil. We’re excited for viewers to experience this epic journey.” Prabhas added, “Kalki 2898 AD is a film that pushes the boundaries of storytelling, and I’m thrilled for audiences around the world to experience its unique vision on Netflix.”

Kalki 2898 AD was released in cinemas on June 27. The film grossed over Rs 770 crore in the domestic market. Combining domestic and overseas gross, the grand gross worldwide box office collection stands at over Rs 1050 crore. The film received rave reviews from film critics and cine-goers during its two-month-plus run in cinemas.
