Actor Juhi Parmar became a household name thanks to the television serial Kumkum, and she is still remembered for her titular role on show. The actor, who was recently seen on Yeh Meri Family season 2, has expressed her desire to reprise the role of Kumkum if a sequel to the show is ever produced.
In an interview with Bollywood Helpline, Juhi said, “I was fresher and the role that I was offered, I was very happy with it. I got a chance to prove myself. Three years after Kumkum ended, I remember I was having dinner at a restaurant and the waiter at the restaurant was waiting for me. When I came back, he said, ‘I have come from Delhi, I am huge fan and I love your serial. Can I sing your title track?’ He sang the title track for me, and listening to it I got emotional and started crying. The restaurant owner came and I had to explain him that I was crying out of happiness.”
The actor added, “I used to get a lot of letters at that time, and I still have so many letters. A lot of people sent me rakhi with the letters.” When asked who she would like to see play her role in the sequel, Juhi said, “If Kumkum returns, there is obviously Juhi for the role of Kumkum and Hussain for the role of Sumit.”
The Hussain Kuwajerwal and Juhi-starrer show aired from July 15, 2002, to March 13, 2009, on Star Plus. The show completed 20 years recently and Juhi took to her Instagram handle and wrote, “Twenty years, unlimited love, and an audience that has turned into a family! Kumkum is me, its become synonymous to Juhi and that connect would be incomplete without the love you guys have given me.”
