Kangana Ranaut and Raghava Lawrence starrer Chandramukhi 2 has been in the theatres for a week now. While the film had a decent start at the box office, the collections have dropped in the last couple of days. On the seventh day, the film made Rs 1.90 crore (in all languages), as per industry tracker Sacnilk. This takes the film’s domestic nett collection to Rs 32.95 crore.

The P Vasu directorial started its box office journey with an impressive Rs 8.25 crore but on the first Monday, the film could only manage to make Rs 4.55 crore. The collections have not picked up since then.

Chandramukhi 2 is drawing some audience in Tamil and Telugu, but despite the presence of Bollywood star Kangana Ranaut, the film has hardly made any money in the Hindi belt. In the Hindi region, the film is fighting against Fukrey 3, which has been doing consistently well at the box office. Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Jawan is still dominating the Hindi box office while The Vaccine War failed to attract audience’s attention.

Kangana was last seen in 2022’s Dhaakad. The film had a disappointing run in the theatres as it could only make Rs 55 lakh at the box office on its opening day, as per Bollywood Hungama. Through its week long run at the cinemas, the film could only manage to make Rs 2.58 crore. The 2021 film Thalaivii, which released in Hindi and Tamil, released during the pandemic and could not draw audience to the theatres.

Chandramukhi 2 is the sequel to 2005’s Chandramukhi, which starred Rajinikanth and Jyothika. The first part of the franchise was also helmed by P Vasu. Chandramukhi was an official remake of Kannada film Apthamitra, which released in 2004, which was also a remake of Malayalam film Manichitrathazhu, which released in 1993.
