One of the most eagerly awaited Malayalam films of the year, Turbo has been generating significant buzz ever since its initial announcement. While much of this anticipation stems from it being Malayalam superstar Mammootty’s first full-fledged mass entertainer since Bheeshma Parvam (2022), the buzz is also fuelled by its star-studded cast and crew.

Now, Turbo’s trailer has arrived, promising that the movie will be a high-octane action comedy with a no-holds-barred Mammootty at the centre.

The 133-second trailer opens by directly introducing Jose (Mammootty), referred to by others as Turbo Jose for his impressive action abilities. Throughout the trailer, we see glimpses of Jose’s intense fights. However, his dominance is challenged when another powerful man (Raj B Shetty) appears, leading to a confrontation though Jose has no idea as to how or why they ended up locking horns.

Nevertheless, Turbo isn’t just about action. The trailer also promises plenty of humour, ensuring the film is a well-rounded experience.

While Turbo is helmed by Pulimurugan director Vysakh, it is penned by Anjaam Pathiraa and Abraham Ozler’s director Midhun Manuel Thomas and bankrolled by Mammootty himself under the banner of Mammootty Kampany, known for its successful ventures such as Kaathal – The Core, Kannur Squad, Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam and Rorschach.

The film boasts a diverse ensemble, including renowned Kannada actor-director Raj B Shetty and Telugu star Sunil, both making their Malayalam debuts in pivotal roles. Other notable cast members include Anjana Jayaprakash, Kabir Duhan Singh, Siddique, Shabareesh Varma and Dileesh Pothan.

While its cinematography is handled by Vishnu Sarma, the movie has been edited by Shameer Muhammed and its music is composed by Christo Xavier. Distributed by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films in India, Turbo will hit the screens worldwide on May 23.
