Despite being the son of Mohanlal — one of the biggest superstars Malayalam cinema has ever seen — and an actor himself, Pranav Mohanlal mostly maintains a low profile, living away from the public eye as much as possible. Last year, his mother, Suchitra, herself had revealed that following the release and success of his Varshangalkku Shesham, Pranav had left for Spain, where he worked at a farm in exchange for food and accommodation. Even after returning to his homeland, Pranav has seldom made any significant public appearances and continues to maintain his under-the-radar lifestyle.
As a result, even rumours about his personal life are scarce in the public domain. Nonetheless, a piece of information regarding his dating life has now surfaced, sparking intrigue among fans. While it had previously been speculated that he was dating actor Kalyani Priyadarshan, daughter of ace filmmaker Priyadarshan and yesteryear actor Lissy, it seems that these rumours were baseless, as someone close to Pranav’s family has now revealed that he is currently dating a foreigner.
He said, “I asked Lissy directly… She told me, ‘If they want it, it’s fine — but there’s nothing like that between them. They’re like siblings. Appu (Pranav) is like a hero to all of us. He’s in love, yes, but not with Kalyani. He’s with a girl from Germany.'”
Besides previously collaborating on movies such as Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea (2021), Hridayam (2022) and Varshangalkku Shesham, Pranav and Kalyani are also childhood friends, with their families sharing a close bond just like them. Mohanlal and Priyadarshan have been friends since their pre-cinema days and continue to maintain a strong relationship to date. They have also worked together in numerous films, ranking as one of the most celebrated actor-director duos in Malayalam cinema history.
While Pranav’s last lead role was in Varshangalkku Shesham, helmed by Vineeth Sreenivasan, he also made cameo appearances in Barroz and L2: Empuraan, both featuring his father Mohanlal. Pranav is now gearing up for his next project, which will be helmed by Bramayugam director Rahul Sadasivan and bankrolled by Night Shift Studios.
