Payal Kapadia's All We Imagine As Light has been the cynosure of all eyes following its impressive run at the awards circuit despite not being the official entry of India to the Oscars. The accolades continue to pour from across the globe, and this recognition at the Golden Globes would be a much-needed push for the indie film, and create a lucrative avenue for filmmakers like Payal, who have been trying their best to get their film a mainstream theatrical audience. It would also provide the confidence to filmmakers that films like All We Imagine As Light can reach the same heights that a much bigger film like RRR did.
It is also interesting how Emilia Perez, a French film, is the frontrunner in major categories at the Golden Globes thereby opening the doors for 'outside' films to enter the hallowed halls of Hollywood. Such moves of inclusivity helps people understand and appreciate the world of cinema, and how language need not always be a limiting factor to enjoy the craft of movies. It is also nice to see actors of different stardom pedigrees hobnob with each other in a unifying setting that celebrates art more than anything else.
Golden Globes Awards 2025 Live Updates: Full Winners List
As the 82nd Golden Globes comes to a close, let's take a moment to reflect on what the award truly meant to a lot of people in the audience, and many more watching it from their homes. Yes, it was a celebration of excellence, but it was also a conglomeration of talents who many had written off or sidelined due to prejudice. Some struck gold right at the first attempt, some got there after years of struggle, and some others even assumed it was the end of the road but stuck on to the drive that got them into this field in the first place. In so many ways, many winners spoke about the struggle for identity, and how humanity and empathy is the only way to go ahead. Of course, this award season has proved to give a new lease of life to many, and it platformed films and series that would greatly benefit from such exposure.
Of course, Indians would be disappointed with the results of the All We Imagine As Light campaign, but there is no need to be aghast because here was a film that stood toe to toe with some of the finest films from the world, and Payal Kapadia brushed shoulders with the brightest talents in the world. Exposure, excitement, and the promise of a better future is not just the story of All We Imagine As Light, but also the story of the Indian dream at the global awards circuit.

The Opening Monologue by Nikki Glaser
Nikki Glaser gets in the laughs right from the word Go... There are snide smiles, loud guffaws, cheeky laughter, and honest applause
There is the usual political humour ft. Trump, the usual casting couch humour ft. Hollywood, and of course... a random but completely understandable dig at Peacock.
How cool is that the boundaries between the elite of TV and cinema is blurring!
The collective silence at the Diddy dig... well, very very interesting and seemingly valid response...
A few jokes at the expense of Timothee Chalamet, Dune, Chalamet, Dune 2, and a random impression of Adam Sandler before the man himself takes over has been the highlight of the monologue!
The Harrison Ford gag didn't really land... Nicole Kidman's 20th nomination... wait 20!!! And the shoutouts to Glen Powell and Adrien Brody hit the right notes!
"The point of making art is not to win an award, but to start a tequila brand so popular that you don't have to ever make art again" - And thus begins the awards season of 2025!
Red Carpet ft. Angelina Jolie
Talking about Hollywood Elite, does it get more elite than THE ANGELINA JOLIE.
Nine nominations. A hattrick of wins in 1998 (George Wallace), 1999 (Gia), 2000 (Girl, Interrupted). Will the 25-year drought at the Golden Globes end with Maria, which has her nominated in the Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama category? She is nominated alongside the likes of Pamela Anderson, Nicole Kidman, Tilda Swinton, Fernanda Torres, and Kate Winslet. Now, if this list isn't elite and powerful, then what is?
This should be a cracker of a category!
Red Carpet ft. Jamie Foxx, Kathryn Hahn and Andrew Garfield
Twenty years after his first nomination and first Golden Globe win for his role in Ray, Jamie Foxx is back in the reckoning for Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television for his special, Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was. Interestingly, in 2005, he was nominated for three different categories.
Kathryn Hahn has received her first Golden Globe nomination (Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series—Musical or Comedy) for Agatha All Along.
Four-time nominee and one-time winner Andrew Garfield was his usual charming self on the Red Carpet, and he was at his animated best for the high-speed cam
Basically, the Hollywood elite are here, and we are just a few minutes away from the start of the much-awaited ceremony at Beverly Hills, California
Nikki Glaser on the advice from five-time host Ricky Gervais
First-time host Nikki Glaser revealed that she reached out to former Golden Globes host and bonafide comedy legend Ricky Gervais to get a few tips. "You are not one of them...So yeah, you've got it. Do what you did during the Roast of Tom Brady" was the advice she received.
Nikki revealed that it was her plan all along, and she has been honing the Opening Monologue for a while now, and is expecting an A+ grade for each of her jokes.
Interestingly, she has a wishlist of people she wants to meet and interact. The list includes, Angelina Jolie, Glen Powell, Zendaya, Timothee Chalamet, and... "I am obsessed with Martin Short"
Red Carpet ft. Ariana DeBose, Ali Wong and Lilly
Ali Wong, last year's winner for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or a Motion Picture Made for Television, puts the flaming Red in Red Carpet. Another striking presence on the Red Carpet is YouTuber and TV host Lilly Singh. Joining them at the event is Ariana DeBose, the 2022 Golden Globe winner for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture for her wonderful role in Steven Spielberg's West Side Story
Payal Kapadia's All We Imagine As Light nominated in two categories
Ever since its Cannes win, All We Imagine as Light has been screened at multiple international festivals and won several major international awards. Now, at the Golden Globes, the film is nominated for the Best Non-English feature and Best Director for Payal Kapadia. Also, the film made it to former US President Barack Obama's List of Must-watch films of 2024. Did it make to yours? Also, it isn't easy for films like All We Imagine As Light to get a widespread release in India, but it is a lesson for the ages how Payal put herself in the forefront of pushing the envelope of an Indian filmmaker trying her best to marshall her resources and bring people to the the theatres. Read here to know more.
Red Carpet ft. Nikki Glaser and Mindy Kaling
Nikki Glaser is set to host the 82nd Golden Globes at Beverly Hills, California. This is the first time a woman is hosting the presitigious show as a solo host. Of course, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, arguably the greatest hosting duo of the Golden Globes, have been on the grand stage before, but comedian Nikki would be the lone woman on the top this time around. There are a bevy of presenters for this show, including comic and actor-filmmaker Mindy Kaling, the star of popular award-winning sitcoms like The Office and The Mindy Project
Red Carpet ft. Ashley Graham, Lionel Boyce, Hiroyuki Sanada, and Glen Powell
Some of the stars that have already stepped on to the Red Carpet include model Ashely Graham, Lionel Boyce, Hiroyuki Sanada, and Glen Powerll. Lionel Boyce is one of the stars of the popular comedy, Abbott Elementary, which is nominated for two categories, including Best Television Series-Musical or Comedy. Hiroyuki Sanada is the star of Shogun, and is nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series-Drama. And Glen Powell, who brought his parents as dates to the event, is nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy for Hitman. Read our review here
Welcome to Screen's coverage of the 82nd Golden Globes
Good day, everyone! It is time to kickstart the awards season of 2025 with the 82nd Golden Globes, which celebrates excellence in cinema and television.
The stars have started to descend on the Red Carpet, and it is shimmering with all their charisma and finery. The who's who of showbiz are at Beverly Hills, California where the Golden Globes are being held.
The show is hosted by first-timer Nikki Glaser, who is expected to do a lot better than last year's host, Jo Koy, who was... let's just say not upto the Globes standards.
And will India, and more specifically Payal Kapadia make history later today? Well, All We Imagine As Light is nominated for Best Non-English Feature film, and Best Director, and wins in either or both categories would be an epoch in Indian cinema history.
Fingers and toes crossed, I guess.
