In Damsel, Millie Bobby Brown as Elodie is in distress, but she doesn’t need a prince in shining armour to save her. In fact, she was put in such a hostile situation by one. The damsel here is resilient and tries to survive her personal apocalypse.
The trailer shows a fantasy world where Elodie is set to marry the prince of the kingdom. But the wedding is just a scam that hides the sinister practice. Elodie is actually lured in by the royal family to be sacrificed to pay off an ancient debt. She is thrown into a cave where a fire-spitting dragon awaits to devour her. Elodie finds that she is not the first one to fall for the scam, and she fights to survive for all the lost souls.
The official logline of the film reads, “A dutiful damsel agrees to marry a handsome prince, only to find the royal family has recruited her as a sacrifice to repay an ancient debt. Thrown into a cave with a fire-breathing dragon, she must rely on her wits and will to survive.”
Will she conquer the odds, emerging victorious, or succumb to the darkness that surrounds her? One has to wait till March 8, the release date of the film, to find the answer.
Directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, the film also stars Ray Winstone, Nick Robinson, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Angela Bassett and Robin Wright
